Photos from the C2E2 Alex Ross Avengers Chalk Mural

Illustrator Eric Maruscak recreates the official Avengers themed poster of the C2E2 convention featuring Iron Man, Thor and the Hulk. Original art by Alex Ross.

So as many of you, most of you, or perhaps even all of you already know, I appeared at C2E2 a few weeks back. I had been asked by the show to make one of my chalk art mural reproductions of the official C2E2 poster artwork. This was a fantastic painting made by none other than super-artist Alex Ross. It featured Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, and a very small Ant Man and The Wasp practically hidden in Hulk’s hair.

C2E2 Mural sketch in Time Lapse

My second time lapse video blog. The sketch for the C2E2 chalk mural. A recreation of the official convention poster by Alex Ross. I also provide an answer to one of my more frequently asked questions at conventions. Enjoy, and as always let me know what you think.

Time Lapse Photography Video

So I’ve made a new purchase, a Ricoh GX100 digital camera. This awesome little piece of equipment is going to allow me to do something I’ve wanted for a long time… take time lapse videos of my chalk mural creations from start to finish.

…and the winner is…

Recently my friend Melanie, who is an art teacher at a local school, told me I was entered into their “Art Madness” competition. This is basically a bunch of artists going head-to-head in a “Final Four” type bracket to figure out who is the ultimate artist (in the students opinion of course.) Neither time nor location has any bearing on who battles who to begin with, so you can imagine my feelings when I learned I was randomly up against Michelangelo in the first round.

Long time, no post… but now new Artwork Galleries!

You may have notice some minor shuffling around on the site. I have moved some elements, changed my archived posts to a drop-down menu, but most importantly I have added an Artwork Galleries section to my left navigation panel. Being one of the slowest people with HTML in the world means this was no small feat for me. It also means there is now quick one-click access to a bunch of my art in nice, organized categories. My posts will still be as entertaining as ever, especially when it comes to convention appearances, but now you can go through a whole bunch of images in these galleries if you just want to look at some art without all that reading.

Paintball Glory!

Eric Maruscak in his paintball facemask is ready to take on the EMR Paintball fields in New Milford, PA.

Today was my first experience with paintball. Sure, I play Halo and Call of Duty all the time, but my friend Sean kept telling me that paintball was a fantastic experience. He also assured me that it doesn’t really hurt too bad to get hit. He was right, but it sure does leave a hell of a bruise!

Supplies and Materials

For my first post I thought I would take a few moments to talk about the materials I use. The materials fall under different categories depending on the type of work I am doing.

Since I am mostly know as a chalk artist, and for my street paintings and chalk murals, I’ll start with the overview of my carry-all bag.
